In 2010 I left California for the first time to compete in my second ever yoyo contest, the Pacific Northwest Regionals in Seattle.
At this time, flying in an airplane was not a normal occurrence for me. Everything from packing my bags, boarding the plane, landing in this magnificent city that seemed so surreal, and stepping on stage to present my creation, was magical. It was my first true experience of recognizing that my tiny little hometown of Chico is minuscule in relation to every place and experience the world has to offer.
Little did I know, I was about to kickstart a path in my life that would lead me to places I never could have imagined.
(2nd place, 2010, 13 years old)
After a second place finish, I got a taste of the future that was in store for me.
Since then, my life has transformed. This blog will serve as a platform to share with you my present and future. To carry your support with me and give back in the form of motivation for you to pursue your own future.
This year, I found myself in a place to create memories for others; to help kickstart the future generation of yoyo players. With the launch of Shutter Crew this past September, I have set out to find passionate yoyo players that have the potential to transform their lives with the same medium I have. Welcome Josiah Davis and Ryan Cvijanlvich to Shutter Crew!
Seattle will always hold a special place in my heart. Each year I come back for this event, I am filled with joy, humbled by the experiences and memories that have been created here.
My trips to this city always start and finish in the same way. A special view from a special place.
See you next year Seattle!
